I haven't been posting in a long time and now I'm living in Helsinki, but here's a random mix of photos that I took in Istanbul during the spring. More and less abstract stuff, all happily mixed together. Istanbul was such an experience. I hope to go back there at some point to continue my Strangely quiet -series, yet right now Helsinki feels like the best place for me to be.

Athens
A couple of weeks back I was in Athens for eight days. It was the Easter week in there, so the city was actually exceptionally empty and quiet as most of the locals were out of town. For me it was a perfect thing, not only because I generally enjoy quietness and calm places, but because Athens gave me a good break from chaotic Istanbul. Athens was beautiful and inspiring city. I fell in love with the hills and the seaside, but more than anything, even though I enjoyed my stay, it made me realize how strongly I'm attached to Istanbul.

Luppis Corporate Identity
It's been a long while and a long silence. I haven't taken any photos since mid November. When the fall semester started, I felt that I needed a break from photography and so I chose classes like graphic design. During this graphic design class, I designed a corporate identity for an imaginary pet product company Luppis. Luppis is a shortened version of the Finnish word luppakorva, which means lop ear. In the end, I'm glad how this turned out. It's a cute and simple design.
I've always been into graphic design, because it's about creating systems - creating a visual language, and that's what I love. However, now that I just finished this project and my semester ended, I'm more than glad to also have time for photography again. Felt already good to photograph these things. Next I'm focusing on my personal projects.

Metamorphosis part II
Here's more images from my Metamorphosis series. I only now realized how few of the images I've published, though I've had these ready since August. Sadly, I haven't been able to do any new ones since I came in Istanbul, because my scanner is in Helsinki, but that will change. In less than two weeks I'm going to Helsinki for a short visit, and that means that I can also take the scanner with me and finally continue this series in here. I'm already looking forward to that, as I have plenty of new ideas in mind. One of the things I want to try, is to create short scanography animations. In the end of this post you can see the first sketch of this idea; a simple gif animation that I made just to see how it could work.
